Becoming a Writer by Dorthea Brande: First written in 1934 and reissued several times, author Dorthea Brande who died in 1948, was a writer and writing instructor who captured her most important lessons in this book. This must read for writers was one of the first books to address how the writing habits of authors are critical to their success. Written almost 90 years ago and still selling today!
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield: Probably the single best book I have ever read about the struggle of creating art and the resistance that all of us face when we try to create art in the world. Author Steven Pressfield is a best selling novelist who wrote this book to help others overcome to resistance to creativity. It is written in a very engaging style that makes it a fast, easy, and quick read. This is my go to book whenever I need a kick in the butt to remind me to stop complaining and just make great art. It reads like a great pep talk from a wise friend.
The Power of Now – A Guide to Spiritual Englightment. by Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual classic that has sold over two million copies worldwide! Like a fish who doesn’t recognize the water in which he swims, we forget to recognize that it is always now and that there is real power in learning to live fully in that space of the present moment. I go back to this book time and time again to remind myself to be here fully in this present moment.
